Asphalt and concrete pavements can be cost-effectively removed with cold milling machines. The range of applications extends from the complete removal of asphalt and concrete to the layer-by-layer removal and levelling of asphalt and concrete surfaces. With WIRTGEN cold milling machines, it is possible to machine working widths from 1 ft 2 in up to 14 ft 5 in and working depths up to 1 ft 2 in in a single pass. In addition, a large number of different milling drums, such as ECO cutters or fine milling drums, ensure that machines can be used with a high degree of flexibility.
COLD MILLING WITH SMALL MILLING MACHINES
Small milling machines are equipped with a wheeled chassis and a milling drum positioned at the rear of the machine. The granulated RAP separated by the rotating milling drum is collected by a slewing discharge belt located at the rear of the machine and immediately conveyed to waiting trucks. That is why small milling machines are also called rear loaders. The compact rear loaders are designed to be operated by a single person. In addition, they are usually extremely maneuverable and have a retractable right rear wheel.

PERFECT VISIBILITY
The optimized shape of the operator's platform not only offers an unobstructed view of the right side plate, but also the left side plate as well. In addition, the intentionally narrow chassis offers an unobstructed view of the right-hand milled edge, and the compact design of the discharge conveyor's suspension system ensures that the operator has a clear view of the milled surface behind the machine.
HIGH-QUALITY CAMERA / MONITOR SYSTEM
The camera / monitor system consists of two cameras and a heavy-duty monitor. The monitor provides a high-resolution view of the loading situation from the cameras at the end of the discharge conveyor and of the area in front of the milling drum housing below the machine.
COMFORT OPERATOR’S SEAT
The ergonomically designed, swiveling comfort seat with seat heater allows the operator to work in a relaxed manner. It also helps provide the operator an excellent view to the side and rear of the machine.

WIDE, OFFSET FRONT WHEELS
The wheels on the front axle are offset by 6 in (1 5 cm) (four-wheeled version) and drive "along one track" when the steering wheel is turned to the right. This optimizes driving onto obstacles and terrain edges. The extra wide front wheels also reduce surface load and wear.
EXTREMELY WIDE STEERING ANGLES
The extremely wide steering angles to the left and right guarantee small turning radii and thus rapid maneuvering, even in tight spaces.
AUTOMATIC SELF-STEERING FEATURE
When pivoted in front of the milling drum, the right rear wheel's automatic self-steering feature not only gives the small milling machine maximum maneuverability but also minimizes tire wear.

AUTOMATIC PIVOTING
The right-hand rear support wheel can be pivoted in front of the milling drum hydraulically from the operator's platform to allow milling along curbs or other obstacles – without having to lower the milling drum to the ground. This process can be completed extremely quickly in 30 seconds or less.
